Full Breakdown
Every occupied residential unit, multi-dwelling building, and commercial unit inside Palm Bay is required to subscribe to and pay for the city's solid waste collection service: there's no self-haul opt-out. The City Manager administers the program, with authority to set the days of collection, the type and location of waste containers, and to enter agreements with the city's waste collection vendor or franchise holder, provided any regulation doesn't conflict with the chapter. The rule traces to a 1991 ordinance and was last amended in 2021.
Violations & Fines
Ignoring the mandatory subscription requirement leaves a property without lawful trash service; the city enforces Chapter 150 violations as a second-degree misdemeanor under § 150.99, per Fla. Stat. §§ 775.082/775.083.
