Titusville, FL Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Section 16-61 of the Titusville Code of Ordinances, 'Mandatory service,' requires every owner, tenant, agent, lessor, lessee or operator of a residential unit, multi-dwelling unit or commercial unit within the city, whether occupied or unoccupied and whether operating or not, to receive solid waste collection service from the city and to subscribe to and pay for that service or its availability; an editor's note confirms this took effect for bills rendered on or after October 1, 2001, per Ordinance No. 37-2001. Section 16-76 sets the collection frequency: residential garbage and rubbish is collected twice each week.

Restaurants and other commercial businesses dealing in food waste products must use city-owned mechanical containers and are collected at a frequency the director of public works sets based on volume and public health considerations; if no city container can be located on-site, the business must furnish its own container, with fees adjusted proportionately under Section 16-116. Other commercial and industrial establishments receive garbage and rubbish collection at least twice a week, with a higher frequency available if the director determines it's needed to protect public health, in which case the non-city-container fee under Section 16-116 is adjusted proportionately.

A resident who tries to avoid the mandatory service charge by closing an account and reopening as a 'new' customer during a temporary absence remains liable for the collection service availability charge for the disconnected period. These schedule and subscription rules apply citywide in Titusville, Brevard County, and are billed under the rate schedule in Section 16-116.
