Tonawanda, NY Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

Section 181-5 gives the Superintendent of Highways authority to designate the days and times for waste collection from every public right-of-way, road, street, highway and alley in the Town, outside the Village of Kenmore, which runs its own service. Only premises subject to a garbage district tax may place waste for Town pickup, and that waste must already be prepared under Section 181-4's tote, bagging and bundling rules before it goes to the curb. Section 181-5A then sets the daily deadline: everything must be placed for collection by 7:00 a.m. on the designated day, and the Town assumes no responsibility for anything set out later than that, meaning a late tote can simply sit uncollected until the next scheduled day.

The schedule works together with the placement limits in Section 181-5B and Section 181-5C, which bar putting waste out more than 24 hours before the designated time and require its removal from the right-of-way by 7:00 p.m. the same day. Section 181-5D adds that the Town has no obligation to collect waste that was not separated and prepared according to the chapter and the recycling regulations, even if it is set out on the correct day and before the 7:00 a.m. deadline. The Superintendent of Highways and the Code Enforcement Officer enforce the collection-day rules and may issue appearance tickets under Section 181-20.
