East Baton Rouge Parish, LA Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Sec. 1 of the Baton Rouge City-Parish Code, adopted by Ordinance No. 15339 in 2012, defines a dumpster as any container for trash or debris that can only be moved and emptied by attaching it to a specialized truck. In areas zoned A-1 Single Family Residential in the unincorporated parish, a resident cannot keep a dumpster on the property for more than 45 days. That cap doesn't apply the same way if the household holds a current renovation or construction permit; the code lets the dumpster stay for the full duration of that permit instead of the flat 45-day limit.
