Recycling is collected once a week in the City-Parish. Recyclable materials must be placed loose in the recycling cart β not in individual bags or containers. The Recycling Office promotes waste-reduction programs across East Baton Rouge Parish.
Environmental Services provides once-a-week recycling collection using a dedicated recycling cart included with the monthly solid waste fee. Recyclable materials should be placed directly in the recycling cart, not bagged or in separate containers, so the material is accepted at the processing facility. The recycling cart follows the same set-out rules as the garbage cart: curbside by 4:00 AM on the service day, lid closed, at least 3 feet from other objects, and out no earlier than 4:00 PM the day before (Sec. 6:238). The Baton Rouge Recycling Office runs education and waste-reduction programs; contact them for the current list of accepted materials.
Contaminated or bagged recycling may be rejected as trash. Cart set-out violations are enforced under Code Sec. 6:238.
