The chart belongs to the Town of Hempstead Department of Sanitation. Its Sanitation Department page names Barnum Isle, Bay Park, Bellmore, Bethpage, East Meadow, Harbor Isle, Levittown, Lido Beach, Merrick, North Lynbrook, Point Lookout, Salisbury, South Westbury, Seaford, Uniondale, and Wantagh, and adds: "Other areas are serviced by Sanitation Collection Districts or local village governments." No community named Hempstead appears in that list.

Households sort into Monday / Thursday, Tuesday / Friday, or Wednesday yard waste, and each Town observed holiday gets its own row, so read your route's cell instead of assuming a one-day slide.

Section 128-5A gives D.P.W. "the authority to make regulations concerning the days of collection," and § 128-1 defines D.P.W. as the Town Commissioner of Sanitation, his Deputy Commissioner or another designated representative. A separate rubbish rule in § 128-7A(3)(b) reads: "No rubbish shall be collected in any week in which a legal holiday falls on Monday through Friday inclusive of such week, due to the double volume of garbage to be collected."
