Redding, CA Trash & Recycling: Holiday Pickup Schedule (2026)

The Redding Municipal Code sets no holiday collection rule. Chapter 9.28 lets the city council fix solid waste rates by resolution (§ 9.28.110) and places container locations under the person charged with administering the chapter (§ 9.28.200(A)). The holiday calendar itself comes from the City of Redding Solid Waste Utility, which posts a one-page 2026 Holiday Collection and Facility Closure Schedule at cityofredding.gov/solidwaste.

The schedule lists each holiday with its date, what happens to curbside collection, and whether the Transfer Station and West Central Landfill are open. For the holidays most residents search, it prints these entries. Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2026: Thu/Fri routes ONE day late, and the facilities are CLOSED. Christmas Day, December 25, 2026: Fri routes ONE day late, with the facilities CLOSED noon December 24 and CLOSED December 25. Veteran's Day, November 11, 2026: NO CHANGE, facilities OPEN. Independence Day, July 4, 2026: NO CHANGE to collection, but the facilities are CLOSED.

The same table covers the rest of the year. Labor Day (September 7), Presidents Day (February 16), Memorial Day (May 25) and MLK Jr. Day (January 19) push all routes one day late. Juneteenth (June 19) delays Friday routes only, and Lincoln's Birthday (February 12) changes nothing. The 2026 page prints no row for New Year's Day 2027. The only New Year's Day on it is January 1, 2026, which delayed Thursday and Friday routes by one day. Check cityofredding.gov/solidwaste for a 2027 calendar before relying on a January 1, 2027 shift.

If your route is delayed, leave the cart out until the truck has emptied it. Under § 9.28.200(C), carts go out no earlier than twelve hours before scheduled pickup and come back to a proper storage location within twelve hours after collection.
