It is illegal in Castle Rock to intentionally or accidentally dump anything down a storm drain. Construction and landscape debris, dirt and solid waste may not be placed in any public right-of-way, street, alley or easement, and dumping near waterways is separately prohibited.
Castle Rock protects its watershed with a stormwater ordinance: "It is also illegal to intentionally or accidentally dump anything down the storm drain" (Municipal Code 4.03.80). Storm drains flow untreated to local waterways and drinking-water sources. Separately, construction and landscape materials, debris, dirt and general solid waste "are not allowed on any public right-of-way, street, alley, or easement" and must stay on private property. Chapter 12.12 also prohibits camping or waste deposit within 100 feet of a public stream, riparian zone, floodplain or storm drainage system. Report illegal or accidental dumping to the Stormwater Hotline at 720-733-2235.
Dumping into storm drains or public rights-of-way violates the Municipal Code and can trigger stormwater enforcement, cleanup cost recovery and code penalties.
