CRMC 10.20.010 defines an abandoned vehicle as any vehicle standing on a street, highway right-of-way, or public parking lot for more than 72 hours unless a dated notice of intent to remove is affixed, or police are notified. A vehicle is abandoned if it has not moved outside a 1,000-foot radius during the 72-hour period. On private property, a vehicle is abandoned if left unattended over 24 hours without the property owner's consent, or parked in violation of posted private restrictions. Removal follows the Colorado Abandoned Vehicle Act, Title 42, Article 4, Part 18, C.R.S. (CRMC 10.20.040-050).
Abandoned vehicles are subject to public or private tow under CRMC 10.20.040-050 following Colorado Abandoned Vehicle Act procedures; owner bears towing and storage costs.
