Loveland's solid-waste utility is governed by LMC Chapter 7.16 (Solid Waste Collection and Removal) under Title 7 (Health, Safety and Welfare). The Loveland Solid Waste Division of Public Works operates the three-stream system: trash (weekly), recycling (every other week, included), and yard waste (weekly April-November, optional). The 95-gallon trash cart is $27.00 per month under the 2025 rate schedule adopted by City Council Resolution R-91-2024 on October 15, 2024 (effective January 1, 2025). Occasional overflow can be set out as up to five (5) 32-gallon/50-pound or smaller bags next to the cart at $4.00 per bag. Recycling service is included with trash service at no separate fee; the recycling cart is collected every other week on the same day as trash. Yard waste is a separate subscription using a 95-gallon green cart collected weekly from April through November; no collection or billing occurs December through March (winter months). Yard debris is composted by A-1 Organics and sold as soil amendment. Overfilled commercial dumpsters are billed at $35.00 per cubic yard of excess material. Collection day is fixed by service area; the city publishes route maps and offers a mobile-app reminder system. For service questions, contact Loveland Solid Waste at (970) 962-2529 or PublicWorksInfo@cityofloveland.org.
Service violations are enforced under LMC Chapter 7.16. Failing to pay utility account balances can result in service termination and lien-based collection against the property's utility account. Setting out excluded items, illegally dumping in the right-of-way, or using unauthorized private haulers for residential service where the city utility provides service violates Chapter 7.16 and is prosecutable in Loveland Municipal Court under the LMC general penalty provisions (Title 1). Repeat illegal dumping can trigger code enforcement abatement and restitution charges.
