Loveland Solid Waste service guidelines under LMC Chapter 7.16 require carts to be at the curb by the early-morning set-out time on the scheduled collection day, placed in the street at the curb (not blocking the sidewalk) with clearance around the cart for the automated arm. Carts should be returned out of the public right-of-way after collection. Up to five 32-gallon/50-pound overflow bags may be placed next to the cart at $4.00 per bag.
Cart placement is governed by the city Solid Waste service guidelines under the framework of LMC Chapter 7.16 (Solid Waste Collection and Removal). The cart must be at the curb early on the scheduled collection day β Loveland trucks run on automated side-load routes, so placement determines whether the cart is serviced. Place the cart in the street at the curb (not on the sidewalk and not blocking the sidewalk), with the wheels and handle facing toward the home and the lid hinge toward the street. Maintain clearance around the cart for the automated arm to lift it β typically several feet of clear space on all sides and overhead, away from parked vehicles, mailboxes, fire hydrants, low tree branches, and overhead utility lines. When more than one cart is out (trash + recycling, plus yard waste in season), space them apart so the truck can service each independently. Up to five (5) 32-gallon/50-pound or smaller overflow bags may be placed next to the cart at $4.00 per bag billed to the utility account. Return carts out of the public right-of-way after collection. Yard waste carts (green) only go out April through November on the same collection day. For exact set-out time, route maps, and service alerts contact Loveland Solid Waste at (970) 962-2529 or PublicWorksInfo@cityofloveland.org.
Improperly placed carts may be skipped at the driver's discretion. Carts left blocking the sidewalk, blocking the street, or stored in the public right-of-way beyond collection day violate LMC Chapter 7.16 and the city service guidelines and can be cited by Code Enforcement. Municipal Court general penalty under LMC Title 1 applies for violations. Damaged or city-owned carts that go missing while improperly stored may be charged to the customer's utility account. Overflow bags exceeding the 50-pound weight limit or the five-bag maximum will be left at the curb.
