Republic Services provides weekly curbside collection of garbage, recycling, and organics for Rancho Cordova residents under an exclusive franchise agreement. Carts must be placed at the curb by 6 AM on collection day and removed within 24 hours.
Rancho Cordova contracts with Republic Services as the exclusive residential and commercial solid waste hauler. Single-family homes receive weekly collection of a black garbage cart, blue recycling cart, and green organics cart (covering yard waste and food scraps under SB 1383). Collection days vary by neighborhood route. Carts must be at the curb no later than 6 AM on collection day and removed from the public right-of-way by the end of the day or within 24 hours. Carts should be placed with wheels toward the house, with at least 3 feet of clearance from other carts, parked vehicles, mailboxes, and fixed objects to allow automated truck arm access. Overfilled carts with closed lids prop open are not collected. Missed pickups should be reported to Republic Services within 24 hours. Holiday schedule shifts collection by one day for major holidays.
Carts left at curb beyond 24 hours may be cited by Code Enforcement as a property maintenance violation. Contamination in recycling or organics may result in warning tags or extra service fees.
