Santa Paula provides weekly curbside collection for trash, recycling, and organic/green waste. Collection is managed by a contracted waste hauler. Bins must be placed curbside by 6 AM on collection day and retrieved by 8 PM. SB 1383 requires organic waste separation.
The City of Santa Paula contracts with a waste hauler for weekly curbside collection of trash (black bin), recyclables (blue bin), and organic waste (green bin). Collection occurs on designated weekdays by neighborhood zone. Bins must be placed at the curb with lids closed by 6 AM on collection day and retrieved by 8 PM. Under California SB 1383 (Short-Lived Climate Pollutants), all residents must separate food scraps and yard waste into the organic waste (green) bin. Acceptable organic waste includes food scraps, food-soiled paper, and yard trimmings. Recyclables include paper, cardboard, glass, metal, and plastics #1-5, #7. The city also provides periodic bulky item collection events. Household hazardous waste must be taken to the Ventura County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center.
Contaminated recycling bins (non-recyclable items in the blue bin) may receive a contamination tag and not be collected until corrected. Failure to separate organic waste per SB 1383 may result in warnings followed by fines after the education period. Bins left out beyond the deadline may receive citations of $50+.
