Full Breakdown

City Code § 10.16.180 makes curbside recycling mandatory for every residence whose solid waste is collected by or on behalf of the City of Annapolis, not optional. Collection runs once a week on the published schedule (shifting only around a recognized holiday), and residents must set recyclables out at the curb in a City-approved container by the scheduled date. Paper and cardboard may go in the container, in paper bags, or bundled and tied at no more than 35 pounds and one foot thick. Multi-unit complexes not served by curbside pickup instead fall under the separate program at § 10.16.250.

Violations & Fines

Removing recyclables set at the curb without City authorization, or interfering with a collection route or drop-off site, is a municipal infraction under § 10.16.190/200 with a fine set by City Council resolution; general chapter violations under § 10.16.280 carry up to $1,000 per day.
