Lubbock recycling is voluntary drop-off only. The city does not provide curbside recycling. Residents may take accepted materials to the Citizens Convenience Station or other drop-off centers. No mandatory recycling ordinance exists.
Unlike many Texas metros, Lubbock does not operate a curbside recycling program. Residents who wish to recycle must drop off materials at the Citizens Convenience Station (208 Municipal Drive) or other collection points operated by non-profits and private haulers. Accepted materials typically include cardboard, mixed paper, plastics 1 and 2, aluminum, and steel cans. Glass recycling is limited in Lubbock and may require separate drop-off. There is no mandatory separation or participation requirement for residential recycling. Businesses may contract with private recyclers. City efforts to expand recycling have been periodically studied but curbside service is not currently funded.
