Marana provides single-stream curbside recycling through its contracted waste hauler. Recycling is included in the base residential solid waste fee but participation is encouraged rather than mandated by penalty.
The Town of Marana offers single-stream recycling collection on the same schedule as trash pickup. Accepted materials include paper, cardboard, aluminum and steel cans, glass bottles and jars, and plastics numbered 1 through 5 and 7. Contamination from food waste, plastic bags, Styrofoam, and garden hoses is a common issue that can cause entire loads to be diverted to landfill. The contracted hauler provides educational materials and cart lid labels indicating accepted items. Recycling carts follow the same curbside placement rules as trash bins. While the Town strongly encourages recycling participation, there is no monetary fine for failing to recycle. Commercial properties have separate recycling obligations under their individual waste hauling contracts.
No penalty for not recycling. Contaminated recycling carts may be tagged with an educational notice or not collected until contaminants are removed.
