Full Breakdown
Under Sec. 110-41, tree leaves and grass clippings go in biodegradable Kraft paper yard waste bags weighing no more than 40 pounds each, set at the curb. Brush, tree trimmings, and limbs must be fully separated from all other waste and cut to four feet or less, tied securely with rope or twine. Mixing any other waste into a green waste bundle or bag voids collection for that item. Landscaping contractors and tree services may not dump cuttings at any location for city pickup: they must haul their own debris away. Larger branches go through the separate bulk trash/large brush program (Sec. 110-42), which allows tree limbs and trunks up to ten feet long and 18 inches in diameter for a fee.
Violations & Fines
Mixed or oversized bundles are simply skipped, not fined; commercial cutters caught dumping trimmings for city pickup face code enforcement action under the chapter's general penalty provisions.
