Full Breakdown
Residential yard waste in Olathe goes out at the curb only if it's in compostable paper yard waste bags or a designated yard waste cart: collection runs on a City Manager-set schedule that can differ from the regular trash day. Residents can also drop yard waste at an authorized City yard waste or compost site while it's open. It's unlawful to dump yard waste in the street or on public grounds, mix it with solid waste for curb pickup, or leave it at a drop-off or compost site while that site is closed.
Violations & Fines
Illegal dumping or mixing yard waste with trash carries the general solid waste penalty: a $100 to $500 fine per offense, with each day counted as a separate violation under Section 6.04.120.
