Detached ADUs must have architectural style, materials, and colors compatible with the primary dwelling. Detached ADUs above garages may be up to 35 feet in height. An ADU permit plus a building permit are required. ADU permits are required even for existing unpermitted ADUs. STR (under 30 days) of IADUs is prohibited. The permit runs with the property upon sale if the ADU remains compliant.
