Cicero, IL Accessory Structures: Shed & Carport Rules (2026)

Section 62-38, titled simply "Garages," makes it unlawful for a property owner or occupant to place or allow any artwork, including murals or other drawings, on a garage, shed or other storage building, and separately bars using more than three colors of paint on those same structures. The rule applies to accessory buildings generally, not just detached garages, so a backyard storage shed is squarely covered. This general code does not include dimensional standards for accessory structures, height and setback limits for sheds and detached garages are set by the Town of Cicero's Zoning Code, which is published as a separate instrument and was excluded from the 2001 general codification along with Appendix A.
