020(C) sets Redding's standards for residential accessory structures, defined to include garages, greenhouses, storage sheds, studios, workshops and similar buildings. 030-C, Note (9), no matter how small they are. For lots in the RE, RS and RM zones, the number of detached accessory structures is capped at two unless a site development permit approves more, the cumulative floor area of all detached accessory structures cannot exceed one thousand five hundred square feet without a director-approved site development permit, and maximum height is twenty-two feet (also extendable by permit).

Setbacks for accessory structures sixteen feet or less in height are twenty feet from the front yard for detached garages/carports, fifteen feet for other accessory structures, five feet from an interior side yard, and ten feet from the rear yard; structures over sixteen feet tall need ten-foot side and fifteen-foot rear setbacks. The RL zone uses a density-based limit instead: fifteen hundred square feet of accessory floor area per acre of land, with a twenty-five-foot height cap. A shed cannot be located closer to the street than the primary residence unless a zoning exception is granted, and freestanding canopies, awnings and similar temporary shade structures may not be placed in any required setback.
