RBMC Title 5, Chapter 1, Article 7 (5-1.701-5-1.711) governs beekeeping. An annual beekeeping permit must be obtained before January 10 each year (or within 30 days of starting). Hives are allowed only on single-family residential property, limited to one colony per 3,750 square feet of lot area and no more than two colonies per property. Colonies must be in inspectable, movable-frame hives. Each hive must sit at least ten feet from any property line and be screened by a solid fence, partition, or hedge six feet high extending ten feet beyond the hive in each direction so bees fly over the barrier.
