Dogs must be leashed on all public property in Grapevine under Chapter 6 of the Code of Ordinances. Off-leash dogs can be impounded and owners cited. Dove Park has a dedicated off-leash dog park.
Grapevine Code of Ordinances Chapter 6 requires dogs to be on a leash no longer than 6 feet whenever they are off the owner's property, including on public streets, sidewalks, parks, trails, and the Cotton Belt Trail. Voice control is not a defense. Dogs found at-large can be impounded by Grapevine Animal Services; owners face impound fees plus Class C misdemeanor citations up to 500 dollars per violation. Repeat offenders may face escalated fines and dangerous animal review if the dog has shown aggression. The city operates a dedicated off-leash dog park within Dove Park (near Dove Road and Cleburne Street) where trained dogs may run off-leash within fenced areas after owners register through Parks and Recreation. Leashes are still required entering and leaving the dog park. Grapevine Lake shoreline areas administered by the US Army Corps of Engineers follow federal rules that also require leashes on developed Corps property. Service animals performing work are exempt from leash rules in places where leashes would interfere with the task.
Class C misdemeanor under Chapter 6; up to 500 dollars per day plus impound fees for at-large animals.
