Under Chapter 191, no person owning or keeping a dog shall permit it at large in Taunton other than on their own premises. If on another's premises, written permission is required. Dogs off the owner's premises must be restrained by a leash (chain, rope, or cord) not exceeding 6 feet or be beside a competent person and obedient to command. A physical or invisible fence must be maintained to keep all dogs on the property. Licensed dogs must have all required vaccinations and be disease-free.
