Taunton, MA Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Section 440-704A(4)(b), amended April 19, 2022, is Taunton's only zoning-code rule aimed specifically at trailers on residential property: no more than one utility trailer per lot, and utility trailers can't be parked in the front yard at all. But the same sentence carves out boat trailers and camping trailers by name, meaning neither the one-per-lot cap nor the front-yard ban applies to them under this section; the code doesn't set a separate numeric limit on how many boats, campers or camping trailers a resident can keep in a driveway or side or rear yard.

That leaves the general residential parking standards in § 440-704A, including the requirement that off-street parking be provided on site and that no more than 60% of the front yard be used for parking and egress, as the operative constraints on where a boat or RV sits. 1, Recreational Vehicles, regulates a different category entirely: all-terrain vehicles, off-highway motorcycles, dirt bikes and similar off-road recreation vehicles, requiring state registration and capping unregistered units at four per residential lot, but that section doesn't reach travel trailers, motorhomes or boats, so it isn't a substitute limit on camper or boat storage.
