D(6) imposes the identical requirement on dogs declared vicious. Both requirements sit inside the broader set of conditions an owner must satisfy within 14 days of receiving a declaration, or within 14 days of a decision upholding the declaration on appeal, alongside micro-chipping and registering the chip in the owner's name, obtaining a Dangerous Dog Tag or Vicious Dog Tag from McLean County Animal Control renewed annually, and, for vicious dogs, carrying $250,000 in liability insurance. The requirement does not reach the general dog and cat population; Bloomington's Chapter 8 has no ordinance requiring spay or neuter of pets that have not been the subject of a dangerous or vicious dog declaration.

Compliance is monitored by the Bloomington Police Department, which also handles the underlying declaration and appeal process, and owners residing at rental property must additionally notify their landlord of the declaration within the same 14-day window.
