Meridian, ID Animal Ordinances: Pet Limits (2026)

Meridian City Code section 6-2-8(N) makes it a misdemeanor to own, keep, harbor, possess, or license more than three dogs at any single residence, property, or premises within city limits. The Police Department's Code Enforcement Division and Animal Control Officers enforce the cap; a violation carries a fine of $300.00 and up to ninety days in jail. The only carve-out is a single litter of puppies under six months of age still kept with the mother dog, and the owner bears the burden of proving that defense applies. Meridian's code has no separate hoarding-conditions provision: this per-residence dog cap is the operative excessive-animals rule.
