Edmond's Parking Rules: The Rules That Matter

RV & Boat Parking

Edmond allows only one unoccupied travel trailer in a rear yard, private garage, or driveway per residence, and driveway-parked trailers cannot block the sidewalk, street, or create a traffic hazard.

Edmond bars any truck, trailer, recreational vehicle, bus or commercial vehicle of 18 feet or more from parking on a street whose principal use is residential living. Under § 10.68.020 the only exception is the immediate loading or unloading of persons or materials.

Driveway Rules

Edmond requires vehicles to be parked on concrete or asphalt, not bare dirt or grass, with exceptions for certain zoning and construction sites.

Abandoned Vehicles

Edmond bans abandoning a vehicle anywhere in the city and bans leaving wrecked, junked, or unlicensed vehicles on any street.

Abandoning a vehicle, or leaving a wrecked or junked vehicle on a street, is a Class B misdemeanor punishable for each day the violation continues.

EV Charging

Edmond may reserve parking spaces for recharging electric vehicles by posting signs. Under Edmond Code § 10.68.140, a vehicle may park in a posted space only if it is an electric vehicle and is connected to an electric charging station.

Parking a non-electric vehicle, or an electric vehicle that is not connected to the charging station, in a marked EV space is a misdemeanor offense, punishable by a $55 fine under § 10.68.150(7).

Loading Zones

Near residential property, Edmond bans commercial loading, unloading, and delivery-vehicle idling between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. under the Zoning Ordinance's Sensitive Border Standards for new multifamily and nonresidential development.

Key details: Loading curfew near homes: 10 p.m.–6 a.m. banned. Applies within: 300 feet of single-family homes. Delivery vehicle idling: also banned overnight. Citywide rule: no loading from public ROW.

Loading between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. near housing, or unloading directly from the right-of-way, is a site plan violation subject to code enforcement and can jeopardize permit compliance.
