Edmond, OK Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Edmond Code of Ordinances § 10.68.020 sorts vehicles by length. It names the truck, trailer, recreational vehicle, bus and commercial vehicle, and it applies to any of them with a length of eighteen feet (18') or more. The threshold is inclusive, so a trailer measuring exactly 18 feet is covered, and a motorhome longer than that is covered the same as an oversized commercial truck. What the vehicle is used for does not change the result. A family RV and a work truck of the same length are treated alike.

The restriction applies on any street "the principal use of which is for residential living." The test looks at the street, not at the vehicle owner's address, so the section gives an Edmond resident no allowance for parking a long vehicle on the street in front of his or her own home. The section also says the ban applies "at any time." It draws no line between day and night and contains no overnight allowance.

The section has a single exception: the immediate loading or unloading of persons or materials. The word immediate limits the stop to the loading or unloading itself. Dropping off passengers, or moving materials on or off the vehicle, fits the exception. Leaving the vehicle at the curb once the loading is finished does not. Even a loading stop is allowed only when it is not in violation of any other provision of Chapter 10.68, so the exception does not excuse a stop that breaks another Edmond parking rule in that chapter.

This length rule is separate from the commercial-vehicle ban in § 10.68.025(c), which is based on weight and axles instead of length. A vehicle can fall under one section without falling under the other, so owners of large vehicles in Edmond should check both.
