3 sets standards for family child care homes operating in the care provider's own residence under California Health and Safety Code Section 1597, distinguishing small homes serving up to eight children from large family child care homes serving up to 14. b's list: the care provider must reside in the home; no other child care home may operate within 300 feet of the lot's exterior boundary; no more than one such home is allowed per residential complex or lot; the lot must be at least 5,000 square feet; the enclosed off-street parking present when the structure was built must be maintained, and any previously converted garage restored to its original use; at least two additional off-street parking spaces must be added for parents and employees; and the rear yard must be enclosed by a solid fence or wall.
