Buena Park, CA Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

010. Ordinance No. 1764, effective December 9, 2025, put this edition into effect and repealed the earlier version adopted by Ordinance No. 1712. 020, titled "Amendments to the California Electrical Code," is expressly reserved for future amendments, so Buena Park currently applies the state electrical code exactly as published, without the local deletions, additions or exceptions found in chapters such as the fire code or building code. 010. Under that section, any code violation, including electrical work performed without a required permit or contrary to approved plans, is either a misdemeanor punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail, or, if prosecuted as an infraction, a fine of up to $100 for a first offense.

010 sets a steeper infraction schedule specifically for violations "of a building and safety code of the city": up to $500 for a second violation of the same provision within a year, and up to $1,000 for each additional violation within that year, well above the standard $100/$200/$500 tiers that apply to ordinary code violations elsewhere in the municipal code. 010(B).
