Terrebonne Parish, LA Building Safety: Building Inspections (2026)

Section 110 of the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Building Code governs how permitted construction is inspected. 1, any work for which a permit is required must remain accessible and exposed for inspection until the Building Official approves it, and an inspection approval never authorizes work that otherwise violates the code or other parish ordinances. 2 lets the Building Official make a preliminary inspection of the site. 10: footing, foundation and plumbing rough-in; concrete slab and under-floor; lowest floor elevation in flood hazard areas; framing and masonry; lath and gypsum board; fire and smoke-resistant penetrations; other inspections the Building Official deems necessary; special inspections under the International Building Code; and a final inspection covering every building trade discipline once all permitted work is complete.

1 requires an elevation certificate to be submitted before final inspection for any structure in a flood hazard area. 5 to notify the Building Official when work is ready for each inspection and to provide access for it. 6, work may not proceed beyond the point covered by a passed inspection until the Building Official gives approval, and any part that fails must be corrected and left uncovered until it is re-inspected and authorized. Additional or re-inspection visits cost $75 under the Section 109 fee schedule.
