Titusville, FL Building Safety: Building Inspections (2026)

Section 6-68 of the Titusville Code of Ordinances governs how construction is inspected once a permit is issued. Subsection (a) requires every permit to come with a field inspection card, and an approved field set of plans must stay on the construction site at all times. New construction and major renovation projects must also display a permit-posting board with room for all inspection cards and a weather-tight compartment for the field plans, erected securely on the lot where the work is happening; a duplicate inspection card costs $25.

Subsection (b) sets a $50 reinspection fee whenever an additional inspection is needed because of an improper or wrong address on the inspection request, failed work, added work beyond what the prior inspection covered, work that isn't substantially complete when scheduled, a missing inspection card, missing field plans, or the contractor's failure to provide access to areas like multistory roofs, bond or tie beams, or access roads. No addition, alteration, building or structure may be occupied or used until the building official has inspected and approved it, per Sec.

6-56(b), and the building official has a general right of entry to any building, structure or premises at reasonable hours under Sec. 6-36 to carry out these inspections. The building official, per Sec. 6-33, is the officer who receives applications, issues permits, and conducts the inspections needed to confirm the work complies with the code.
