Full Breakdown

Aurora City Code § 22-316 adopts the International Plumbing Code, 2021 Edition (first printing, March 2020), with appendices B, D and E, as "the Plumbing Code of the City of Aurora." The code's stated intent is to meet or exceed the State of Colorado Plumbing Code, and where the two conflict, the more restrictive standard governs. Section 22-2 separately amends IPC § 109 to require that permit and plan-review fees be paid before a permit issues, with the fee set by a schedule the chief building official recommends and the city manager approves.

Violations & Fines

Starting plumbing work before a permit is issued triggers a penalty of 100 percent of the usual permit fee, added on top of the required permit fee itself, under City Code § 22-2.
