The maximum height is as established for the district in which the building is located. C.Exceptions. The maximum height limits of the applicable zoning district do not apply as follows: 1.Telecommunication Uses. Telecommunication uses are subject to the height limits in Sec. 7.4. 2.Other Building Elements... 3.Agricultural Structures. Barns, silos, and similar structures customary for the bona fide agricultural use of a property, provided they do not exceed 50 feet in height.

Full Breakdown
6 of the Hall County UDC defines building height as the vertical distance from the mean finished ground level at the front of the building to the highest point of its roof or parapet, and sets the maximum at whatever figure the applicable zoning district's dimensional-standards table establishes. 1 caps the R-1 single-family district at 50 feet as well; the manufactured home park (MHP) district's dimensional table instead limits height to 35 feet. 4; ordinary building elements such as spires, belfries, cupolas, domes, water towers, observation towers, electrical transmission towers, chimneys, smokestacks, elevators, antennae, solar panels, flagpoles, masts and steeples; and bona fide agricultural structures such as barns and silos, which may rise as high as 50 feet regardless of the district limit.
Anyone proposing a building that would exceed the district maximum outside of these three exceptions must seek a variance under the UDC's general variance procedure rather than proceed under an as-of-right permit.
Violations & Fines
Constructing a building above the height allowed for its zoning district without qualifying for one of the § 2.1.6.C exceptions or an approved variance is a UDC violation; the Building Official can withhold the occupancy permit under § 1.2.1 until the structure is brought into compliance or a variance is granted by the Planning Commission.
