Kyle, TX Building Setbacks & Zoning: Structure Height Limits (2026)

City Code § 53-33(j) sets the baseline rule: except where the chapter says otherwise, no building can be erected or maintained above the height limit specified for its zoning district in Chart 1. That chart runs height limits by district, with Kyle's core single-family districts, including R-1-1, R-1-2, R-1-3 and R-2, capped at 35 feet, while districts like Urban Estate, Agricultural, and Central Business District 2 allow up to 45 feet. A separate list of features falls outside the height limit entirely: television and radio towers, church spires, belfries, monuments, water and fire towers, stage towers, scenery lofts, cooling towers, ornamental towers and spires, chimneys, elevator bulkheads, smokestacks, necessary public or private utilities, conveyors, flagpoles, and mechanical appurtenances are all exempt.

The code also carves out extra height for institutional buildings: public or semipublic service buildings, institutions and schools can reach 60 feet, and churches and other places of worship can reach 75 feet, but only if every required yard grows by one additional foot for every two feet of extra height above the district's normal limit.
