Maximum structure heights for unincorporated Ventura County are set in the development standards tables of the Non-Coastal Zoning Ordinance. Under Section 8106-1.1, principal structures in the OS-REC, OS, AE, RA, RE, RO, R1, and R2 zones are limited to 25 feet in height. Height may be increased above 25 feet up to a maximum of 35 feet if each side-yard setback is at least 15 feet (or as specified by permit). RHD and RPD zones allow up to 35 feet. Building height is measured under Section 8106-1.3, which addresses flat grades (vertical distance from grade to the highest point of the roof) and sloping grades separately.
