La Grange, MO Business Licensing & Operations: Adult Entertainment (2026)

Section 610.030 lists four disqualifying conditions for an adult business, defined in Section 610.010 to include adult bookstores or theaters and adult entertainment businesses offering material or performances emphasizing sexual activities. First, the premises cannot sit within 1,000 feet of any school, church, library, public park, or licensed child care center or home, measured in a straight line from property line to property line without regard to intervening structures. Second, the same 1,000-foot straight-line measurement bars locating within 1,000 feet of any other licensed adult business.

Third, Section 610.030.3 flatly excludes adult businesses from any property south of Poage Street within the La Grange city limits, an outright geographic ban layered on top of the distance rules. Fourth, the premises must meet all applicable federal, state and local health, flood, building, fire and property maintenance requirements. Beyond siting, Section 610.020 limits exterior advertising signage to one sign attached to an exterior wall, capped at 50 square feet. Section 610.040 restricts entry to patrons 21 and older (except for repair, maintenance or delivery workers), bars exterior display of performers or products, and prohibits alcohol, controlled substances, underage presence, or prostitution on the premises.

Section 610.050 sets closing hours: no adult business may be open between 1:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, or between 1:30 a.m. Sunday and 9:00 a.m. Monday. Section 610.060 requires a manager on duty at all times the business is open, with the manager's name posted. Section 610.070 requires the business to permit City inspections. Chapter 610 fixes no penalty of its own, so a violation falls under the general penalty, Section 100.220.
