La Grange, MO Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Section 340.250, Abandoned Motor Vehicle, defines the offense broadly by location rather than by how long a vehicle has sat: a person commits the offense of abandoning a motor vehicle if he or she abandons any motor vehicle on the right-of-way of any municipal roadway, in or on any of the waters of the City or State, on the banks of any stream or river, on any land or water owned, operated or leased by the City of LaGrange, or on any private real property owned by another without that person's consent.

This sweeps in vehicles left on street rights-of-way, City-owned lots, and neighboring private lots alike, and does not require the vehicle to be inoperable or stripped, only that it has been abandoned in one of the listed locations without the necessary consent. The provision works alongside Section 340.240.E's duration limits on Main Street and other streets (six and twenty-four hours respectively), so a vehicle that overstays those limits and is left unclaimed can be pursued either as an over-time parking violation or, once abandonment is established, under this dedicated section. The City of LaGrange Police Department is the enforcing agency for both tracks.
