Section 12-193(a) makes it unlawful to operate a sexually oriented business in the city without a valid sexually oriented business license, and Section 12-193(b) separately makes it unlawful to work as an employee of one without a valid employee license, unless that person already holds the business license itself. Applicants file in person with the city planner, provide proof of age with a government-issued photo ID, disclose any specified criminal convictions or pleas in the past five years, and, for a business license, submit a sketch of the premises showing configuration and floor area open to patrons, accurate to within six inches.

Section 12-194 requires the city planner to issue or deny the license within thirty days, with denial grounds including an underage applicant, an incomplete or falsified application, unpaid fees, noncompliance with interior configuration rules, or a location that fails the separation requirements of the Lauderhill Land Development Regulations. Section 12-195 sets the initial fee at $100 for the business and $50 for an employee, with $50 and $25 annual renewals respectively. The city planner can suspend a license for up to thirty days under Section 12-198 for a knowing or reckless violation, and Section 12-199 allows outright revocation, barring reissuance for one year, for grounds such as falsified applications, on-site drug or prostitution activity, operating during a suspension, or letting a minor consume alcohol or appear nude on the premises.
