Lauderhill, FL Parking Rules: EV Charging (2026)

Section 3.2.2 requires new single-family homes not built with electric vehicle supply equipment already installed to incorporate that equipment into their building plan sets. Where the equipment is sited in a residential garage, the plans must depict the typical vehicle parking location, the location of the vehicle's charge inlet, the Level 2 charging station location, electrical plans showing the new circuit, panel schedule, and routing, whether an additional meter is needed and where it would go, the length of the vehicle's charge cord, and confirmation that the equipment complies with the National Electric Code and SAE J1772.

Section 3.2.3 requires all new development in mixed-use, multi-family, and non-residential zoning districts to contain electric vehicle charging stations as set out in the parking standards of Article III, Section 6.5.1. Section 3.2.4 extends that requirement to redevelopment or expansion of an existing facility in a mixed-use, multi-family, or non-residential district that adds twenty or more required off-street parking spaces, which must then meet the same Article III, Section 6.5.1 electric vehicle parking standards. As with the solar-readiness rules in the same schedule, plan review for these EV provisions falls to the Community Appearance Committee under Article IX, Section 3, and Section 4 makes the Committee's approval a condition precedent to issuance of a building permit.
