Lauderhill, FL Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Food Truck Permits (2026)

Section 5.57 of the Land Development Regulations separately regulates three categories of mobile vending: mobile vendors, mobile food vendors, and ice cream vendors. Under Section 5.57(B), a mobile food vendor, the category covering a typical food truck, may operate on either residentially zoned or commercially zoned property, but only with an approved special permit, a special event permit, or a promotional license issued by the City; without one of those three approvals, setting up to sell food from a truck or cart anywhere in Lauderhill is not allowed.

Alcohol or tobacco sales, or complementary giveaways of either, from a mobile food vendor are not banned outright the way they are for a plain mobile vendor under Section 5.57(A); instead Section 5.57(B) subjects them to regulation by the State of Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, meaning the vendor needs the applicable state license in addition to the City's permit. A general mobile vendor under Section 5.57(A) faces a tighter rule: it may operate only on private property in a residential zoning district in a legal parking space that does not block the right-of-way, or on commercial property with one of the same three permits, and it cannot sell alcohol or tobacco at all.

A separate ice cream vendor category in Section 5.57(C) applies only to a vehicle where at least 90 percent of inventory is ice cream or frozen dessert products as defined in Florida Statutes Chapter 503. Because the section sits in Article III's use-specific standards, the underlying permit and promotional license applications route through the Planning and Zoning Division alongside the City's special event permitting process.
