Lauderhill, FL Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 5.57 of the Land Development Regulations, City of Lauderhill separates general mobile vendors from mobile food vendors and confines both to specific zoning situations rather than letting them operate anywhere in the city. A plain mobile vendor may operate only on private property within a residential zoning district and parked in a legal parking space not blocking the public right-of-way, or on commercially zoned property but only with an approved special permit, special event permit, or promotional license. The section flatly prohibits the sale of alcohol or tobacco, or complementary alcohol or tobacco, by a mobile vendor in either setting.

A mobile food vendor gets the same two-track zoning rule, residential or commercial property, again only with a special permit, special event permit or promotional license, but its alcohol and tobacco sales are instead regulated by the State of Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco rather than banned outright. The section separately defines an ice cream vendor as a vehicle-based seller whose inventory is at least 90 percent ice cream or related frozen dessert products, allowing up to 10 percent other prepackaged goods, a stricter ratio than the 75/25 split used for ice cream trucks under the city's general vending-vehicle rules in Chapter 14. Because Section 5.57 sits in the zoning code rather than the general offenses chapter, a vendor operating on the wrong zoning classification is out of compliance with the Land Development Regulations even before any noise, stopping or registration issue under Chapter 14 comes into play.
