Mosinee, WI Business Licensing & Operations: Tobacco Retail License (2026)

Sec. 14-371 makes it unlawful for any person to sell, exchange, barter, dispose of, give away, or keep for sale any cigarette, cigarette paper, cigarette wrapper, or substitute product on any premises or by any device in the City of Mosinee without first obtaining a license under this division. Sec. 14-372 requires the retailer to file a written application with the city administrator naming the applicant and the business location, and the license is not delivered until the applicant pays the fee the common council sets from time to time.

Sec. 14-373 puts licenses on an annual cycle: each one is issued July 1, or whenever applied for after that date, and stays valid until the following June 30 unless the city revokes it earlier for a violation of the article. The article does not carry its own forfeiture clause, so an unlicensed sale falls under the city's general penalty in Sec. 00. Each day the violation continues is treated as a separate offense under Sec. 1-13(b). The authority to license cigarette sales at all traces to Wis. 65, which the chapter's footnote cites as the state law basis for the article.
