Under NY MRTA, municipalities had until Dec 31 2021 to opt out of adult-use retail dispensaries and on-site consumption. Syracuse opted IN. Several Onondaga County towns (Clay, Cicero, Manlius, Camillus, Salina) opted OUT of retail dispensaries.
Opted-out municipalities can reverse via local law. Retail dispensaries licensed by NY Office of Cannabis Management (OCM). Zoning buffer 500 ft from schools, 200 ft from houses of worship per state rules. Opt-out only blocks retail - possession/cultivation still legal. Contact Onondaga County at (315) 435-2070 for enforcement.
Contact your local code enforcement office for specific penalty information.
