South Fulton designates historic properties, cultural landmarks and historic districts only by a city council ordinance adopted under Sec. 5-7007, after the ten-member Historic and Cultural Landmarks Commission investigates the site and holds a public hearing. Once an ordinance is adopted, the property must appear on the official zoning map, and owners cannot make any material exterior change without a certificate of appropriateness from the commission.
