Tuscaloosa bars any excavation or construction work on a residential pool until the chief building official issues a building permit under City Code Sec. 6-6. The city separately adopted the 2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code by reference in Sec. 6-118, and Sec. 6-119 raises the code's barrier-height minimum to 72 inches for every pool built within the corporate limits.
