Flood Elevation

Facing hurricane storm surge and heavy rain, Ascension Parish requires new and substantially improved homes in special flood hazard areas to sit at or above the base flood elevation, certified by a licensed professional. Ascension Parish Code § 9.5-32(1) sets that residential standard, part of a chapter adopted after Louisiana delegated flood-loss authority to parish government under R.S. 29:608 and 29:709.
