Syringe Disposal
Chatham County treats used needles and syringes as biomedical waste. Section 21-602(5) defines sharps to include needles, IV tubing and syringes with attached needles. Section 21-603 bars taking that waste out of the county for disposal and bars bringing outside biomedical waste in. Violators face fines up to $500 and jail time under Section 21-604.
