Unincorporated DuPage County has opted out of recreational cannabis retail. Section 38-201 of the County's Cannabis Prohibition Ordinance bars any adult-use cannabis dispensing organization, cultivation center, craft grower, processor, infuser, or transporter, along with any cannabis lounge or club, anywhere in the unincorporated county, regardless of zoning district.

Buffer Zones

Unincorporated DuPage County keeps medical cannabis facilities well away from kids and homes. Zoning Ordinance Sec. 37-426.2 sets a 2,500-foot buffer between a medical cannabis cultivation center and any pre-existing school, daycare, or residentially zoned area, and a 1,000-foot buffer for a medical cannabis dispensary from the same protected uses.
